Dry British

Dry British aka Steve Millington is an illustrator, sign writer and engraver. He combines a distinctive illustrative style, with an expert hand in sign-writing, and his northern humor.

On leaving Bolton College of Art in the late Eighties, Steve trained as a glass engraver and designer at Lancashire Crystal. He then trained as a traditional sign painter and has recently found his true calling as a freelance illustrator.

Influences are many and varied from Peter Blake to Quentin Blake, Carnaby kitsch to the dadaists. His work manages to be both current and regain a sense of timelessness.

Dry British's work has included LP covers, ad campaigns, clothing designs, animations and an ongoing series of books.

His clients are wide ranging; from the illustrious Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall to the corporate world of Virgin and McDonalds and everything inbetween.

In this, his first London show, Steven wears his Dry British hat and exhibits the full spectrum of his skills including traditional sign painting, illustration and apparel.

With traditional skills and a fondness for all things vintage, Dry British undeniably has one foot firmly planted in the past but is always looking forward.

Over the launch Dry British added some paint to everything from Vespas to Harley Davidsons.

Dry British will be undertaking commissions on behalf of Bolt.
