Pike Brother 1952 Olive Selvedge
Pike Brother 1952 Olive Selvedge
We made selvedge denim in the UK during the wartime and it was olive, and it’s great to see its return with this faithful reproduction by Pike Brothers. I have a pair of the original trousers and the fit and fabric of these are both faithfully reproduced and tastefully updated. We were unable to get these due to brexit but we have navigated our way through things to continue to support this great brand from Bavaria.
The Pattern 1952 trousers were the evolution of the British battle dress trousers from the 1940s. The “Pattern 52” was originally made from a robust 12oz selvage denim. We have reissued this fabric exactly according to the old recipe. Original trousers from our archive served as a template. The large leg pocket and the small First Aid pocket on the hip are typical of British army trousers from this period. The wide cut is just as typical, since the pants were intended as overpants. The trousers are pre-washed.
The following details characterize the Pattern 52:
– 12oz selvage denim, 100% cotton
– Wide Fit
– Large leg pocket, small hip pocket
– Suspender buttons
