The Lake Run 2022
After two years of living through the pandemic we wanted to create an opportunity to bring together all our friends and the community that has developed around Bolt, and we came up with The Lake Run. We wanted to do something against the grain, so we striped things back to the bare bones - a ride out, camp out, party…..and nothing else. No sponsorship, no merchandise, no commerce at all - once you arrived on site everything was for the taking, cocktails, tubs full of beer and BBQ’s providing a steady stream of food till late in the evening. Everyone who came got involved one way or another, either leading a ride out, pouring drinks. flipping sausages, playing records or just looking out for one another.
Whilst we were blessed with good weather last year we wanted the best chance of sunshine so we’ve moved the date forwards to 30th July. We are also going to increase the number of attendees from 120 to 200 which we feel is possible without changing the format.
We’ll be meeting up at Bolt on the Saturday morning for coffee and then heading down to the coast in groups. Whether you’re on a motorcycle, scooter or a novice there’ll be others heading down taking suitable routes. The 60 mile ride down takes in some great roads and is a bearable distance if you are unfortunate to have a hang over on the way back.
Once at the lakes they’ll be BBQ’s on the go and a soundtrack from our rota of dj’s playing over the weekend. Camping will be around the lake and amongst the wild flower meadows and we’ll have a large fire pit down by the lakeside. The lakes offer a great sense of escape, secluded from the world outside and nestled in a beautiful landscape. The next day we’ll have breakfast and before riding down to the sea and back to London.
We ask for £50 per person to go towards covering the expenses of the event - this includes everything from hiring the site to sound systems and generators, toilets and so forth. It also goes to cover all the food for the weekend so you won’t have to spend a penny once on site. Last year we enjoyed a seemingly endless supply of beer and spirits from our sponsors, and free coffees from the guys at Boyds of Bedford. I hope that this year we can do the same.
We will be offering places to all of those who attended the first event as a priority and then we will be opening the event to new attendees.
